Geisha House to reopen as Relapse Comedy Feb. 17
Improv and stand-up comedy club to debut new Midtown space Friday.
The streets of Midtown are going to be filled with uncontrollable laughter starting this Friday, Feb. 17.
That’s because Relapse Comedy Theatre, an improv and stand-up comedy club headquartered on 14th Street, is opening its newest location at Midtown’s Atlantic Station. The theatre will open in space previously occupied by Geisha House.
AS Blogspot spoke to Bob Wood Thursday, the Artistic Director and owner of Relapse, about who performs at his theatre and what audience members should expect.
“To quote Monty Python, we’re ‘an autonomous collective,’” Wood said. “A collection of gypsy comedians.”
Wood, who got his comedy start at Whole World Improv Theatre here in Atlanta 16 years ago, founded Relapse in 2004.
“Our shows are a great place for a first date,” Wood said. “Expect icebreakers and audience participation. It’s like going to a movie, except you’re apart of the action.”
Here’s Relapse’s show line-up for this weekend:
